Gratitude #Giveaway $10 Gift Card

Time for the Gratitude Giveaway hosted by Kathy.

What are YOU grateful for?

Positive psychology research shows that acknowledging our gratitudes can make us happier. So I’m giving you the opportunity to do just that in the giveaway.

I’m grateful for my two sisters. They’re fun, smart, kind, and beautiful. One of these days I’ll beat Laurie in Words With Friends (she cheats, I swear) and maybe I’ll cave to Susan’s constant cajoling for me to move near her in South Carolina.

I’m blessed to have siblings I call my friends. It makes all the teasing from childhood worth it!

And thank YOU, awesome readers, for making my new release Blocked a top seller among volleyball books.

Authors Promoting Authors

A big thank you to Alex Cavanaugh for starting the…
Insecure Writers Support Group.

Today I’ll share an idea to make yucky marketing more fun:

Create a MARKETING TEAM with fellow authors!

Do you feel uncomfortable tooting your own horn? Do you lack the time to keep your books in the public eye? My pub sisters at Omnific Publishing decided to overcome those problems by designating one author a week for some major book pimpage.

How does it work? The designated author creates some marketing materials and shares them with our closed Facebook group. Then other authors in the group promote that author throughout the week.  Here are the various marketing strategies:

1) Tweets. The author creates tweets like:

Friendship is the best kind of ship. #NA #Navy #swimming #romance STREAMLINE by @JenLaneBooks http://amzn.to/1928OMJ #HotMenInUniform
…and her fellow authors tweet like crazy.
2) Goodreads. We “like” the 4 star and 5 star reviews for the designated author’s books, thereby bumping those reviews to the top.
3) Facebook and Pinterest.
My amazingly talented pub sister Carol Oates volunteered to create images with quotes from our books on them. I can’t wait for my week to unveil images like these:

What creative marketing strategies have YOU tried?

Genre Favorites Blogfest

That kooky author Alex Cavanaugh is at it again, hosting a fun blogfest HERE.

Genre Favorites Blogfest, September 17, 2012
One blogfest, four favorites!
List your favorite genre of:
Movie
Music
Books
And a guilty pleasure genre from any of the three categories!
Okay, here goes:
1) My favorite MOVIE genre is…

DRAMA/ROMANCE

Titanic is my favorite movie (quit laughing!) and here’s a deleted kissing scene from the epic ship flick:
I also love The Shawshank Redemption, Speed, Godfather II, Terminator II, American Beauty, Gladiator, Die Hard, Moonstruck, Working Girl, A Fish Called Wanda, Grand Canyon, Prince of Tides, Ordinary People, and so many more.

2) Favorite MUSIC genre:

MAINSTREAM ALTERNATIVE

Now that’s an oxymoron! What I mean is that I love music that’s “alternative” but not too far out there.

My favorite song is With or Without You by U2.

Gah. What a beautiful, sorrowful song. Other artists I love are The Fray, Jack Johnson, Colbie Callait, Indigo Girls, John Mayer, Adele, Snow Patrol, and The Script.

3) Now, BOOKS! My favorite genre is…

ROMANTIC SUSPENSE

…which isn’t a surprise if you know what books I like to write. I adore author Pamela Clare, and I also enjoy fiction and YA contemporary.

4) Finally onto my GUILTY PLEASURE…

NEIL DIAMOND!

I love singing along to his songs, and there are SCADS of good ones like “Forever in Blue Jeans”:

Thank you Alex for this fun hop!
