Thank you to this month’s co-hosts! Janet Alcorn, SE White, Victoria Marie Lees, and Cathrina Constantine.
February 7 question: What turns you off when visiting an author’s website/blog? Lack of information? A drone of negativity? Little mention of author’s books? Constant mention of books?
One aspect I enjoy most about IWSG is the opportunity to check out different writer blogs. It’s fun seeing how creative minds design their blog or answer the question of the month so uniquely. I like to see published authors’ book covers, and attempts at humor endear me to the writer.
I do find it frustrating when I have trouble locating the blog URL or IWSG post for that month. I’m even more frustrated when Blogger won’t let me comment from my MacBook. I also prefer to avoid reading political commentary, which seems to polarize and infect almost every aspect of life.
How is your writing coming along?

I haven’t made much progress on my new novel, but a recent swim vacation to Belize inspired my thinking about plot and characters. This school of blue tang mesmerized me.
Hi,
The blue tang ? Amazing –
Political commentary ? In the UK, time to delete almost. Blogger ? Frustrating ?I live in a deadzone,no signal, barely there broadband, and even the birds can’t tweet. ( ravens, buzzards, peregrines) Perhaps Google can’t believe this ? Sign in security fails, or Blogger thinks I’m a fraudster, on a strange device, meaning a place where everything works…
This was going to be the year of a real website – not just a blog, And trying maybe, to promote a book, any book. .

I do love my Mac, Pat. It’s so fast to boot up, and I grew tired of having to replace a Dell PC every two years. Hope you have an awesome February!

I don’t have a Mac but I have trouble commenting on blogs on blogger that don’t have pop-up windows. I have to switch to Mozilla, which is a pain.

Does Mozilla still exist? 😉 Boo for Blogger making it tough to comment all the way around.

I’ve moved to Chrome so I could leave comments. For some reason Firefox blocked me. 🙂

Glad you circumvented the blockage, you wily blogger!

Belize! Wow, what an adventure.
There are several writer sites I visit where it’s really difficult to locate the newest blog post.

The scariest part of Belize was our “jungle tour” at night, when we saw a tarantula, cobra, and crocodile! Maybe I’ll share more photos next month.

I use a PC but still find Blogger frustrating. I have multiple Google accounts, and when I go to leave a comment, Blogger should let me choose which one I want to use. But most of the time, that doesn’t work, so I have to use a different browser (in which I’m signed in to only my author Google account) to leave comments.
I hear you about the political commentary. I don’t mind that people are upfront about their politics (you can probably figure out mine if you read my posts closely enough), but I don’t want to read about it in detail all the time. I have other places I can go to read about political stuff.
My writing is going… OK. I’m having trouble sleeping, so I’m not getting up consistently early enough to allow for morning writing time.

Ugh, insomnia sucks. I used to have a Blogger blog, and I’m glad I switched to WordPress for more ease of commenting (and replying to comments).

I like checking out what we’ve been up to as well. It’s all about the fun. 🙂

I usually avoid blogs with political opinions as well. They are too dividing and too upsetting.

Olga, I’d rather find what we have in common instead of opinions that divide us.

Admittedly, I really haven’t written anything for the last two months because of my upcoming book release, but I’m itching to get back to it. Soon! I also find it really frustrating if I have to look for the blog post for IWSG or whatever other hop I might be participating in.

I’m trying to get back into the saddle after 2-3 years of not writing, but the writing horse keeps bucking me off!
