It’s time to disclose our inadequacy and excitement about writing. Check out where it all started on Alex Cavanaugh’s blog.
Thank you to this month’s co-hosts:
This month’s question:
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever googled in researching a story?
What a great question! I’m sure many of us fear getting arrested for our bizarro and sometimes illegal internet searches, all in pursuit of writing with authenticity.
No way I can choose just one, so here’s a list of strange searches I’ve conducted:
Nicotine patches (for my WIP)
NCAA recruiting rules (also WIP)
Seafood restaurants in Pensacola, Florida
Secret Service protection for families of presidential candidates
Paintings of dogs playing poker
US Naval Academy Honor Concept
Parts of a guitar
Frank Sinatra songs
Parolee voting rights
Chemistry experiments gone wrong
And last but not least:

Hi,Wow! what a search. I hope not all of it robbed you of sleep. By the way, what is splenectomy? It sounds like something terrible so I won't google it. Have a lovely November.Shalom aleichem,Pat G @ EverythingMustChange
I think Google needs an, \”it's ok, I'm a writer\” mode so that we don't end up on any watch lists lol.
I like Sarah's idea because I do worry about someone watching searches. I'm not surprised at your list given that you write mysteries.
What is the last one?I can help with anything about guitars!
The internet is a great resource for learning about so many different topics! You've definitely researched a lot of different ones! 🙂With Love,Mandy
Paintings of dogs playing poker…come on – you did that one because you just can't get enough of them, didn't you?
What an interesting list of topics! Did one of your characters burst a spleen in an auto accident? Something more gruesome? Happy writing in November.
Your list looks a lot like the lists I keep. I put anything odd I research on those.
Experiments gone wrong sounds like fun. I gotta check that out. hehehe Anna from elements of emaginette
