Join us for the Insecure Writers Support Group, where we share our doubts and celebrate our victories. Thanks to Alex Cavanaugh for starting (and maintaining!) the amazing group.
The wonderful co-hosts for the September 3 posting of the IWSG are Kim Lajevardi, Natalie Aguirre, Nancy Gideon, and Diedre Knight. You rock, ladies!
This is the second question of the month that involves A.I., which I know nothing about, so I’ll abstain from answering. I need to get with the times and learn more.
I finally feel some momentum with my novel–thanks to the group for your suggestions for getting unstuck! I have about 15K more words to write. I would love to publish Low Water before an author event I’m attending in Savannah, GA on November 1 (since the novel is set nearby.) It’s probably an unrealistic timeline. But the only space my editor has before February of 2026 is in early October. Therefore, I’m going for it!
If you would like to join me for a writing sprint in the month of September, please let me know.
How was your August? I visited my sister in Chicago, where we took in a Savannah Bananas game. Have you heard of Banana Ball? It’s like the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball:
We also saw the air show from a boat on the lake. *sings* Highway to the danger zone
Novel in Progress Update: Low Water 72,500 / ~87,000 words
Best wishes with the tight timeline! You can do it.“Let’s strive to be better in September!” – Charmaine J. Forde #quoteI have a novelette coming out on the ninth. And a post about condiments planned on the A to Z site this month. Hope you’re well!

Hi,
Sounds as if you had fun. Baseball isn’t a sport we see much of here, and August seems to consist of endless sheep shows, in the rain. Wet sheep smell even worse than wet dogs, dogs are definitely the best part of any sheep show.
A writing sprint ? Why not ? My WIP is deliberately and maybe out of character HEA, at Christmas, more realistically, HFN. or now. Set in the Scottish Borders, which is just up the road, Perfect excuse to book a cottage there, late Nov/Dec, and the local writers group let me join. Thisb is when Atlantic seals have their pups, on the beaches. No water births, they’re air breathing mammals.

Since I find baseball about as interesting as wet sheep sometimes, I appreciated the entertainment factor with the Bananas.
How’s your WIP, Esther? Still thinking about booking a cottage?

I just finished (ready for publication!) my first MG novel. I’m busy editing the second book in the series. It’s awesome 🙂 I’m supposed to work on another series, but this is the one that wants my attention right now.

Great news, Ronel! What’s the title, and what inspired you to write MG? How is the publication process going? You are a speedy writer!

I’ve been working on this book (series) for almost two decades. LOL. My Rottweiler featured in the book was the inspiration 🙂 I’ll be publishing this series either in 2026 or 2027, depending on how fast I finish the next 3 books. “Christi and the Faery Dog” is truly a book from the heart.

Your Rottie sounds like a great inspiration for a book series, Ronel! ❤

*lifting pompoms* Go, Jennifer! Cheering you on for this writing sprint. I will be tackling other projects so I won’t be joining you…though it’s tempting. You’ve got this!

Congratulations for getting unstuck. Isn’t it great to be part of IWSG. Always supportive and offers practical ways to move forward.
Sounds like you had a fun-filled August.
Thanks Alex, I’ll watch a rerun of AGT and look for a Savannah Bananas team member.

Good luck with your writing deadline, Jennifer! You can do it! I have heard about Banana Baseball ~ which is amazing because I don’t follow a lot of sports. I stumbled across a game on tv and got pulled in. I loved it. Unfortunately I missed when Banana Baseball came to Colorado this year, but I’m planning to catch a game next year. All the best to you!

I suggest buying Banana Ball tickets early before they return to Colorado as it seems like a cultural phenomenon that keeps growing in popularity. The game in Chicago was sold out. I appreciate your cheerleading–it worked!
