It’s the first Wednesday of the month and time for the Insecure Writers Support Group, started by Alex Cavanaugh. Writers, join us here to share our hopes and fears!

I’m grateful to this months co-hosts: Feather Stone, Kim Lajevardi, Diedre Knight, C. Lee McKenzie, and Sarah – The Faux Fountain Pen!
Today’s optional question is about using artificial intelligence as a writer. I have not even started to use AI, so I will skip that question and hope to learn more about possible uses from fellow writers.
Thanks for the accountability, IWSG! This monthly post helps motivate my writing, however slow it may be. I’ve written around 15K words for my next novel, Low Water. In the midst of writing, I’ve had the opportunity to experience the high waters of my first tropical storm (Debby) in my new South Carolina home. I’m thankful I’ve only faced heavy rain and winds without flooding or a loss of power.
However, there was a 9-foot alligator roaming the streets of Hilton Head island:

And a gator in a woman’s swimming pool!

You got a tropical storm with alligators while we just had a noticeable earthquake. Not sure which seems the worst.
Keep up the good work with writing.

Yikes on the earthquake! Lynn said she prefers a tropical storm to an earthquake since you can prepare for it, and that sounds reasonable to me. Thanks for the encouragement.

Congrats on getting so much writing done. I hope you don’t get too much rain.

Everything turned out okay, thankfully. Hope you have a great August, Natalie!

Glad Debby didn’t sock it to you. We’re to see up to fifteen inches of rain from her.

I hope the rain moved through quickly, Alex.

9 ft alligator ? Here, just a little white bull with a ring through his nose blocking the road, deciding whether to let us through.

Hmm, bull or alligator. 😉

Lots of interesting stuff going on around us.
Here in Mexico, in July, we had 2-inches less than the previous month. We’re considered in a tropical weather zone and we’ve had far less than reported with Debby. We do have crocodiles, though. And occasional earthquake.
Growing up in the Los Angeles, California area, earthquakes were normal. If mother nature gave me a choice, I’d prefer rain. At least I can prepare for it in advance.
Stay safe everyone.

Earthquakes sound terrifying! I experienced a mild one in Ohio once that was freaky. Living in Mexico seems like an adventure. How long have you lived there? Baja, Mexico is the setting for my first chapter of my WIP.
