insecure writers support group, new release

IWSG Blogging Buddies and RIVALS

Happy February, writers! Join us for the Insecure Writers Support Group here.

I’m thrilled to co-host this month, along with Louise – Fundy Blue,Mary Aalgaard,Patsy Collins at Womagwriter, and Nancy Gideon!

February 3 question – Blogging is often more than just sharing stories. It’s often the start of special friendships and relationships. Have you made any friends through the blogosphere?

Blogging has been wonderful for building relationships! The best part of IWSG, for me, is the community of writers I’ve come to know. And blogging offers more freedom and ownership than social media.

In 2010, authors from my small publisher started a blog hop– the beginning of my friendship with awesome author Nicki Elson. Since then, Nicki and I began a productive and fun critique partnership! She recently helped me select audiobook narrators.

I’ve also befriended quite a few warriors from the IWSG Ninja Army: Alex Cavanaugh, L. Diane Wolf, Natalie Aguirre, Chris Fey, Ellen Jacobson, Anna Simpson, Roland Yeomans, Pat Garcia, Stephen Tremp, and Feather Stone.

(I apologize in advance for my difficulty commenting on Blogger from my MacBook unless there’s a pop-up comment form. Clearing my cache doesn’t seem to work anymore.)

I appreciate all of your support in writing and publishing! If you’d like to spread the word about my new release, sports romance RIVALS launching 3-19-21, please sign up on this form.

In addition to Nicki Elson critiquing my baby, I’m grateful to Diane Wolf for her book design! You can find Rivals on Goodreads and pre-order on Amazon.

I’ll share my adventure creating my first audiobook for Rivals in a future post. It’s been so cool.

    1. That’s great, Cathrina! I’m lucky to get some guidance from my sister, who’s an audiobook narrator. But it has been a steep learning curve.

Your new cover is fantastic and groovy! Congratulations.

  1. Congratulations on your book release. Blogging has made finding like-minded people so much easier than if we didn’t have internet. And we have easy access to folks from all over the world! It’s pretty amazing to think about.

    1. You started the A to Z Challenge, Arlee? That’s so cool. I participated one year and enjoyed it, but my day job keeps me too busy to participate this year. What a great simile for blogging: opening a small business!

    1. Hi, Samantha! Thank you for stopping by. Sorry I can’t comment on your post (Blogger doesn’t get along with my MacBook), but I love the idea of blog comments as a digital calling card. I also like your comment to readers that the IWSG is a peek behind the curtain. 🙂

  4. Good luck with your launch! Awesome to have found a critique partner through blogging. (Shannon from thewarriormuse [dot] com–I give up on trying to sign out of my podcast WordPress and back in again after commenting, lol)

  5. I have also found blogging much better forum for connecting with people than social media, though having said that, I have made friends with incredible fellow writers on Twitter.

  6. Oh my gosh! Rivals looks great and I do love the cover! I will check if I can pre-order at Amazon Canada. I’ve made friends blogging too, and glad they are friendships that even if haven’t connected for awhile–when we do again it’s like we ‘saw’ each other just yesterday.

    1. To quote Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” 😀

By the way, I’m working on creating an ARC on StoryOrigin, thanks to your suggestion. I’m having some technological difficulties trying to create an ePub and mobi of a book sample, but I hope to soldier through!

  7. I’m so glad the topic was about blog friendship. It really reminded me how important it is to visit other blogs. And I have to say, even though I am not really a fan of either sports or romance, your cover is fantastic! Drew me in right away, and made me curious.
