Tumble 4 Ya Blogfest

Nicki Elson is the coolest author! She wrote the fun & sexy 80’s Romp Three Daves, and today is hosting the Tumble 4 Ya Blogfest.

Who was my 80’s crush? Here are some hints . . .

“Your ego’s writing checks your body can’t cash!”

“I feel the need . . . the need . . . for SPEED!”

That’s right, my crush is MAVERICK, otherwise known as Tom Cruise.

I think I saw the movie Top Gun like 20 times in the theaters, and I was the first in line at the Blockbuster store to order my VHS tape of the beloved flick.

Hot men in their dress whites? *thud*

And then there’s the volleyball scene (ah, Iceman, you freeze me with your charms):

Even though little Tommy comes up to my collarbone, back then I thought he was a dreamboat. Then he got all Scientology on me and bashed psychiatric medication, and I became a bit disillusioned. But my teenage self really fell for that showty with the cocky bravado and charming smile.

Can’t wait to check out all the 80’s crushes on the Blogfest. And don’t forget to enter my giveaway below for the Follower Love Giveaway!

  1. Ah! You just made me laugh out loud at Tommy coming up to your collarbone! Why are the cuties always so short? He's an excellent choice and I've seen him pop up one more place so far. As I commented there, seeing Top Gun on the big screen w/ my very best girlfriends is one of my favorite movie memories ever. Large scale volleyball scene, hummina hummina…Thanks so much for joining the fest and fessing up. (I'm having so much fun!)

  2. Oh the volley ball scene *dreamy sigh* oh yeah, I remember it well. And to this day I still can't hear You've Lost That Lovin Feeling without thinking of this movie. And the line that was quoted on the regular in my circle of weirdos…\”We went like this, he went like that. I said to Hollywood, 'Where'd he go?' Hollywood says, 'Where'd who go?'\” PS; NKOTB RULES!!!!

  3. Julie, he's certifiable now. But he still looks great even though he's gotten older. Must be plastic surgery. ;)Nicki, it's true a lot of cuties are short or gay, but my all time crush Wentworth Miller is 6'1\” *swoons* Great idea for this blogfest, Nicki!

  7. Kelly, that volleyball scene was some delicious eye candy for sure.L.G. I loved when Maverick was all angsty after the death of Goose. To my teenage brain, that was some damn good acting! The 80's are a very good place to hang out today. 🙂

  10. My wife still loves Tom Cruise. I liked him in Collateral but that's about it. I haven't seen any of the MI films but will see the latest this week. before it leaves theaters.

  11. Stephen, Collateral was pretty good. I did see the Mission Impossible movie and was able to follow along. The action scenes were great but it didn't really grab me emotionally.Tara, ha ha. Obviously we have a Val fan on our hands.Linda, you don't have to keep your crush secret here. Let it out, baby!

  14. Wow, Mark, I know none of those bands. I guess I'm not cool and goth anymore without my friend's influence. I'm more mainstream now, listening to Colbie Caillat, The Fray, The Script, and U2. Thanks for stopping by!

  15. TOP GUN has definitely had a few mentions in this blogfest! I only saw it for the first time last year! Yep, I'm slow off the mark with some things. 😉 I've loved Tom Cruise in lots of films, and still do, even if he's become a total weirdo in recent years!

  16. Trisha, that would've been humorous to watch Top Gun through the lens of modern day. Probably even cheesier! Yes, it seems Tommy is quite popular among the ladies!Arlee, I wasn't a big fan of Far and Away (too long for my tastes) but it did get to show off his acting chops. I'm now a follower on your a to z blog. 🙂
